One of the main controversies within the mental illness discussion is the idea that mental illness is not real. I believe this idea comes from the fact that most mental illnesses are ¨invisible illnesses¨. These include things that are not just mental illnesses, like early stages of multiple sclerosis, epilepsi, HIV/AIDS, and diabetes. Just because you cannot see these illnesses, per say, does not mean they are not real and troubling.
